Free at last?

We met up with mom and dad yesterday and they have the kids for the week... what will we do with ourselves? Tonight is choir, Tuesday night we hope to meet up with Emily and Jared, The rest of the week will most likely involve laundry (and lots of it!!!)

I miss my kiddos and am already looking forward to seeing them Friday night- but sleeping until my alarm went off this morning was a huge treat!

We ordered Ms glasses last week- purple Barbie frames... I can't wait to see how she does with them!

Testing, testing...

Yesterday M had her hearing test and also a speech evaulation. She passed both with flying colors- which I figured she would, I did it because her preschool teacher asked... Now I know she is just bored:) Today, though, was a different story. She had her eyes checked and was found to have "a significant astigmatism." We will go back this winter and they will see if she needs to be patched. Then on to glasses before kindergarten.... I hoped that wouldn't be the case, but with me as her mom, I figured the day would come! I did realize that might explain why she gets up during circle time at preschool and walks around the room- she may not be able to see the pictures in the book from that far away...

Me: What does unconscious mean?
M: It means you have no control over your body and you are worn out. Like this- (lays on the floor on her back and closes her eyes.)

M: My Oliva book. I learn lots of things in books...

I have been neglecting my blog. I apologize!

I realized today that I check many blogs almost daily but haven't updated my own in way too long... here is the recap of the past few months:

I started my new job in October and love it! I miss having Tuesday afternoons free to spend with the kids, go to appointments and get the oil changed, but I needed a change of pace!

O was sick pretty much from October 1st through December 26th- the day he got tubes. He is a new boy! He still isn't talking- he does say mama and tries Dada every once and awhile, but that's about it. He is stubborn and sweet and getting cuter by the day:) Now if he could just tell us what he wants....
Some of his favorite things:
His Elmo and Grover stuffed animals- he can't sleep without them!
His pacifiers- we are down to his crib only...

His Thomas the Tank Engine Book- it is missing both covers and isn't very exciting... we read it 10 times a day....

M turned 4 on January 5th and was hard to live with for a few weeks! She has since become the lovable girl we missed. I had her parent/teacher conference at preschool the other day and was told that she has a great vocabulary (which I knew!), was the class greeter (she greets everyone with hugs, including the parent helpers and anyone else who comes into the classroom) and isn't a very good listener. In fact she suggested that we have her hearing checked. We are doing that Thursday, but I'm pretty sure she is just bored. I guess we shall see!
Her newest favorite things:
Barbie Mariposa- the movie came out last Tuesday and she earned it by sticking with me for a long that included a trip to work, O's 18 month check up, lunch with dad, preschool and pictures at Portrait Innovations. All without a nap. The movie came with butterfly wings for her- need I say more???

Art projects or science experiments:
We have dyed Easter Eggs, painted little "statues" very bright colors, added paint to water to see what happened, made collages, drew pictures, made cards and wrapping paper and more in the past few weeks.

Oh Boy

I doubt anyone is reading any more since it has been 4 months since I posted! A lot has happened in that time. Owen turned one and finally learned to walk. Maggie started preschool and is having a blast. After the 2nd week the teacher told me she thought Maggie could teach the class by December. She is quite a talker! I started a new job. I'm still with the same company, but I finally like my new job- I'm in HR. I am the main contact for employees with HR related questions. Open Enrollment has been fun- I have learned a lot in a short period of time!

I'll post pics soon- probably after Thanksgiving!

Oooops!

I didn't realize it had been 2 months since I posted- Sorry!

In the last 2 months lots has happened! Ben found a new job and has been on the job for 6 weeks. It is so nice to have him working again! (if you want details- feel free to email me!)

Maggie left 2 weeks ago on a car trip to NJ to see moms family. Owen and I flew out on 7-3 and met them. We then flew home on the 8th and they got back on Wednesday night. The kids were amazing- Owen was a great flier! he fell asleep before take off on all 4 flights and woke up about 20 minutes before we landed on all 4. I had people asking me what I gave him:) maggie was a great traveler too- never asking "are we there yet"- give her a year or 2 for that.

She spent the 10 days in the pool or on the beach. Seriously- that's about all she did! She was in and out my aunts pool more than you can imagine- she can doggie paddle with the best of them now. My little fish:)

Dreams

Conversation from the commute this morning:

M: last night I had a dream that bullhead (?) from Meet the Robinsons tried to take me and papa, but the boy from the future and his family saved us. We had crazy hair dos and I was wearing a funny dress. Isn't that silly?

Seriously, I wish I remebered my dreams in as much detail as she does!

She had her last tumbling class on Saturday so we all went to the "performance." She did well on the actual "moves"- but during the middle she sat and tickled the girl next to her and distracted all of them, so the teacher had to move her to her own corner... oooops:) I'll try to post a pic sometime. I will post one of her new haircut too- the bangs are a bit short, but they'll get there.

Yesterday at Sunday school she drew a picture of a person- and I could tell right away- I almost cried I was so surprised:) I said "maggie thats a person!" (ok it was circle with eyes, nose and mouth with 2 really long legs and maybe 1 arm:) her answer was " and those are your words" So she drew me talking- big surprise:)

Owen is pulling up on everything! He is so proud of himself- he'll pull up- then turn and grin at you- silly boy:) he is also sleeping better- yeah!!!

We went to Portrait Innovations yesterday- the kids did great!

Busy weekend

We had a busy- but fun weekend. Mom and dad were here with Sarah- but her plane left at 5 on Saturday. Sarah and I checked out the new Sephora store at Jordan Creek Friday night- I could easily become addicted!

Jane Nicholas and her family came to town on Saturday for Adam Whitney's wedding (talk about a clash of my worlds!) so we got to have lunch with them. Maggie and Janes daughter Isabelle had a great time together!
Maggie had another tumbling class- the teacher told her she was doing much better and she was so happy!

Saturday night was Maggies first concert. She did great sitting (mostly quietly!) through Ben masterworks chorale concert. It was less than an hour long and she had a great time. Once the music started she turned to me and said "it's music to my ears:)"

Yesterday was Sunday School and shopping! As Maggie has been known to say "it's always something!"

Owen had a nice weekend too:) I can't leave him out!

Contraptions

We went to lunch with mom and Sarah yesterday at Spaghtti works. Maggie says she is scared- I ask why- her answer "look at those contwaptions up there" meaning all of exposed painted pipes:)

On a totally unrelated note- I love the soundtrack to Wicked! I have listened to it twice today already.

I need anyone who reads this to send sleep vibes to Owen... he was only up twice last noght- but I need a full nights sleep already!!!!!!

Ooops!

So I wasn't able to login and I was blaming blogger- nope my own fault!

Mom has been staying with us since Wednesday night and watching the kids- what would I do without her??? Sarah flies in today and Maggie can't wait to see her!

O has been doing fine, if you overlook the yucky cold he has had for over a week and the lack of sleep! (both Owen and mama!) he is happy as a clam during the day- but nights aren't much fun! He has mastered army crawling and is quick- I love to watch him chase after his train!

She had her 2nd tumbling class Saturday and did fine- she is one of only a couple kids that can't do a somersault by themselves, but she is also one of the youngest. She'll get it eventually!

Easter was fun- the bunny brought 2 baskets:) (Thank you Aunt Leah!) So she was doubly excited!

I went to pick her up from Sunday School yesterday and she hugged the teacher and said "I have jesus in my heart" that was the theme of the lesson, so the teacher was happy to know that it rubbed off:)

Mom had her draw a card for my nana (she is in a lot of pain from shingles) Maggie wrote and wrote and then told mom what it said "god loves you. you need to pray. say Thank you for your wonderful family" Seriously I don't know where she gets it- we just started going to church on a regular basis... Maybe Sunday school is rubbing off on her!

Mondays.... what more can I say:)

What a busy weekend! M started her tumbling class on Saturday and had a great time. We also went and bought her new big girl car seat- she got to pick it out, so of course it has pink flowers on it:) Whatever works! Yesterday we went to Marshalltown to see the in-laws and we got to watch Cars on grandpas new projection tv- 4 by 8 feet would about take up our whole wall- but it was kind of neat.

I realized I forgot to mention O in my last post! Oooops! He is getting bigger by the minute and is army crawling to get where ever he wants to go. He can get up on his hands and knees and rocks, but can't quite figure out the real crawl out yet (and I hope it takes awhile! At least he is slow moving right now.)

M on the commute this morning was having her stuffed panda sing to O- "I don't mind if slobber on me, Please don't grab on me, and on and on" Then she says "that was wrotten by Panda Cosette. all of the panda operas are wrotten by panda cosette." I'm still giggling about her made up songs!

It's about time...

I finally decided to jump on the blogwagon! I am hoping to keep you all updated on the latest in the lives of M and O... M's newest crazy sayings and O's newest things.

I'll start with a Maggie funny from the commute this morning:

M: Isn't it nice of Santa to let us buy ornaments to put on our tree? he even let me buy one in the shape of him.

M: Can you put on Cosette (castle on a clud from Les Mis) because it is like a lullaby and I didn't get enough sleep. When ever this song is on people just fall asleep...

She is full of them! I'm sure you will be sick of reading them, but this is a good way for me to document them all!!

Tomorrow morning is her first Tumbling class through parks and rec. She is so excited about meeting new friends- this seems to be her newest obsession. I'll keep you posted on how it goes!

I get to out with a friend for dinner tonight and then to dualing pianos- for those of you who know jared Hall, he is in it and I have been wanting to go forever! Tonight B gets to babysit and I get to have fun!
